Profile

Ruth Bolgar

Ruth qualified as a Reflexologist in 1998. She has been receiving complementary therapies for back trouble for more than twenty-five years. Thankful that due to these therapies she has been able to carry on with a normal active life, she became a therapist to give back something of what she received – her way of saying ‘thank you’.

She is qualified to treat expectant mothers-to-be, and has a particular interest in using her skills in this way. Reflexology is useful both for pregnancy-related discomforts and also to stimulate labour where the mother’s due date has passed, thus helping to avoid managed induction. She is also interested in using reflexology to help with infertility.

Ruth has also undertaken further training in Vertical and Synergistic Reflexology, which can be used as a shorter but still effective treatment when there are time pressures, or in the work-place.

She also works co-operatively with like-minded therapists in the Bristol Wellbeing Alliance, a group of highly committed professional therapists whose shared focus is to help and support those who wish to invest in their psychological and physical wellbeing. This service is both for individuals, and also for organisations looking to invest in the wellbeing of their employees.

Ruth has been a Breastfeeding Counsellor for the National Childbirth Trust for many years, attending regular courses on core counselling and listening skills.
